Not only because of world financial cuts in cultural department, there are lots of reasons and desire of discovering Asia and its contents. There are approaches to focus Asia in many ways, but which tend to lean toward the viewpoint of marketplace. So, we would like to discuss about more realistic collaboration within and beyond Asia.
PAMS, organized by KAMS, which was a marketplace for Korean performing arts, has changed its mission and concept toward ‘Creative Cooperation’ since 2009 and will focus on Asia in this edition. We would like to find out Asia’s own value and competitiveness, and inspire you with creative ideas.
Major world performing arts festivals and markets like the Edinburgh International Festival and WOMEX(World Music Expo) have been captivated by the potential and marketability of Asian contents. In addition, budget cut situation all over the world resulted from financial crisis increasingly has emphasized on the necessary of international collaboration. The Asia focus session listens to arts people, who have been working in or are expecting to work with Asia, about the reasons why they focus on Asia based on their professional experiences. Time for Open questions allows participants to discover the real value of Asia and interests on it.

The experiences of international collaboration which have become a part of creative process show how to work with others and also suggest collaboration models which can bring new idea and success of art producing. In this part, researchers and producers involved in ‘International Co-Production Manual’, which is published by IETM and Korea Arts Management Service, share their learning and feelings from the experiences.
